Chevron, the American oil
company, drills for oil, manufactures gas products and has interests in
chemical production and mining to energy research and nano science. With an
origin in the middle Ages, the chevron symbol is omnipresent in our lives. The
classic upside down V-shaped symbol, especially used as a symbol of rank on
military or police uniforms, is also used as a car logo, a corporation name, a
kind of car racing and more. The French word "chevron" means rafter,
the sloping supporting beam that runs from the ridge beam of a roof to its
edge.
